Such Sweet Sorrow (Updated version) Chap.3

Published March 30, 2009 by ladyserenity92

Daddy came home around six from working. T.R. and Jordan came over to Daddy when he stepped inside the apartment. They hugged and kissed him. Even Potato was barking her greeting at him.  As Daddy  hugged me, he noticed the look on my face and read my mind. He turned his head to Jordan and shook it.

“It’s always like me, Jordan.” He told him. “I too can’t keep a secret.

After supper, Daddy called us kids to the den for a family meeting. We sat down on the sofa as Daddy tried to roll the words from under his tongue. T.R. looked at Daddy as she thought about where we were going on such short notice. Daddy found the words that he was searching for.

Daddy began, “Children, as you know, we haven’t been spending time with each other since your mother left. And I have been working extra hard to support you three. I have thought things over and come to a decision about what I should do for us to spend time with each other.”

My daddy was flushed red from the heatwave. Most Caucasians like him are often flushed when they are caught in a heatwave.

“You know our Cousin Ray in Orageburg?” Daddy asked us.

I knew Cousin Ray a lot. Jordan and T.R. only knew him in the pictures and stories Daddy often shared with them.

“I called Ray,” Daddy continued, “and I made an arrangement for us to spend a month in Orageburg with him. We don’t have much time. I want you three to pack your suitcases and get a goodnight’s sleep; we’ll be leaving tomorrow morning at 6 AM.”

The three of us were shocked to the core. Tomorrow morning at 6 AM. I looked at T.R. and Jordan and knew that the news had hit them as well. My brother and sister were happy about the vacation. “We get to spend a month with Ray instead of a month of summer school.’ Jordan cheered. Jordan and T.R. rushed to their rooms to pack.

We went to bed early at 8PM and woke up at 3 AM in the morning. My daddy, Jordan, T.R. and me were getting ready for our trip to South Carolina. After breakfast, Jordan and I washed and dried the dishes as T.R. helped out placing the dishes in the top cabinet. Jordan was whistling a song as he was drying a cup on his shirt.

We left home our apartment at 6 AM. T.R. locked the door as I helped Daddy with the  luggage. It was dark with a hint of the sunlight in the sky when we got outside. When we got to the car, Daddy unlock the trunk and placed the luggage into the back. After Daddy closed the trunk, we hopped into the car and drove off.

Daddy drove from New York State onto the highway. During the ride, I turned on my iPod to pass time. In the middle of my song, Jordan called my name to ask me a question.

“What are you listening to, Sissy?” he asked.

“It’s just an old school song that I’ve downloaded to my iPod.” I told him.

“Can I listen to it.”

I took one of my earphones out of my ear and inserted into my brother’s. My brother was swaying to the music playing. T.R. wanted to listen, too, so I gave her my earphone. As T.R. listened, she replied, ‘I didn’t know that you liked Jazz.”

“Now you know,” I told her.

My daddy drove on into the night as my brother and sister slept with my dog Potato next to them. As I watched them sleep, I thought about Cousin Ray and how he will react after seeing me as a sixteen year old girl. When Cousin Ray met me, I had my hair tied in pigtails and ribbons. Now that I was older, I wonder if my cousin would still remember me after nine years. I fell asleep, dreaming about meeting my cousin.

I woke up the next morning to find Daddy entering into a neighborhood. The neighborhood was getting ready for a new day. My brother, sister and Potato were starting to wake up. Potato was helping them by licking their faces. Daddy arrived at a whitewashed house and drove up into the driveway. At the front door of the house, I saw a Caucasian man with a Hispanic woman by his side. The man was in a Face-it t-shirt and faded blue jeans. He had clean-cut hair and wore glasses. I smiled when I saw him.

As Daddy parked the car, I unfastened my seat belt and opened the car door. I cried as I ran to the man. I got to him and threw my arms around him. The man put his arms around me as well.

‘Hi, Ray,” I whispered.

“Hello, my honey,” Ray answered back.

Dream Wedding

Published March 28, 2009 by ladyserenity92

This is a gentle poem about a little girl dreaming about her wedding day. Although I have never had dreams about my wedding as a girl and have no interest in marriage, I wrote this poem back in 2003, back when I was starting my 20’s and when Wedding Peach was getting a hold of the culture. Please enjoy.

White wedding dress with veil.

A rose bouquet in my hand, arms locked with my papa.

Papa walks me to my forever lover, as everyone smiles and weeps.

My love and me are crying tears of joy on this happy day.

Someday that will happen.

But for now, I am in the fourth grade.

All I can do is dream and hope that my dream comes true.

Untiltled (Liora’s song)

Published March 27, 2009 by ladyserenity92

This song was from an unfinished novel that I was working on. It’s called Liora’s song, and was from  my children’s novel Liora in Zodiacland. The novel is on hiatus and I have no plans to finish the book anytime soon. I hope that someday I can get to it and finished the fates of my characters. Please enjoy this song.

Now I know that I am not alone.

I thought that I was lost in my world,

but you took me out of the darkness and brought me into the light.

Because of you, I now know the meaning of friendship, loyalty, and love.

Thank you for your love for me.

(I will never forget you.)

I will always remember  you.

Thank you for your kindness.

You showed me that you cared for me.

I love you, and I hope to see you again.

Narration of love at 14

Published March 26, 2009 by ladyserenity92

This is a teenage love poem that Iwrote back in 2003. As you read this, you may experience your own first love as a teenager. After you finish, post your stories on my blog about your first love. I like to hear all about it. Please keep the love stories PG. Nothing weird or graphic, please! Keep it clean!  Please enjoy my poem.

Tory walked me home from school, holding my hand.

He called me his princess as I blushed.

We are in love with each other.

At last, we arrived at my house.

We closed our eyes and shared true love’s kiss.

I’m soaring like a kite in the sky.

After our kiss, Tory kissed me on the crown of my head.

‘ See you, tomorrow, my princess.’ He said, as he walked away.

I returned with a wave.

I love Tory and he loves me.

I couldn’t be the most happinest girl in middle school.

Post 200th

Published March 23, 2009 by ladyserenity92

Welcome to my 200th post. After 199 post, I have reached the number 200. I want to give you a little taste of what my story Obon: Day of the dead (Reunion) is about. There is an Obon in Japan which falls somewhere in August. Obon is celebrated as a day for spirits of the living to visit their loved ones for three day. On the third day, the spirits are sent on their way home to the ghost realm until next year.

Since Obon is a Japanese holiday, I decided to have the ‘Obon’ on Halloween. Halloween is almost like the Japanese Obon, except kids are given candy and toys to put in their bags. I believe that most Japanese children go trick-or-treating  just like the western children.

Although Halloween and Obon are many months away, that still hasn’t stopped me from making stories about Halloween. Crumbs, I’m talking about a holiday that hasn’t happened yet. In the meantime, I’ve only made a few drafts on the novel, and I have no plans to publish the novel just yet. I have too many projects to work on at this moment. For now, I have the story on the back burner.

But I do have a story just in the back drawer that I have to rewrite called Hotaru the Brave. Hotaru the Brave is about a 13 year old Japanese girl who is a witch. Along with her best friend, Kenji, Hotaru saves the life of the prime minister’s daughter, Yukie from a yakuza boss (who is also a witch). I will get to that story and have it posted.

Sorry this isn’t much; I thank you for all the love and support for making my blog a smash hit. Please tell me how I am doing. What you like; what you don’t like. Tell me anything you want (just keep it on the PG-13 level). This is a family-friendly apmostspere.

What’s on my mind?

Published March 22, 2009 by ladyserenity92

I’m thinking about writing another story to publish. So far, I haven’t published anything, yet. Since I’m going to graduate this year, I have to think about my life and practice on my drawing & writing. I have to start now or I won’t become an author/illustrator. I have to discipline myself  in order to become an author/illustrator.

Today is Sunday and the last week of March. March sure has flown fast. Tonight will be the night that I create my story. This week, I have to go to the talent show at my school. I have to recite a poem that I’ve written. I know the poem by heart, so I will be super at the talent show. My poem is After All, and its posted on the blog.

Have a nice day!

Obon: Day of the dead (Reunion)

Published March 21, 2009 by ladyserenity92

12 year old Connie Swain is haunted by the memory of her teacher/cousin Adam, who passed away on Halloween night; the day of her birthday. Lonely and depressed, Connie wished for the day to see her cousin once more.

The week before Halloween, Connie’s cousin returns for a visit. With the reunion, memories flood upon on Adam and Connie’s life. Some happy; others painful. Even on the night of Halloween when Adam took his last breath in his cousin’s arms, they both receive a revelation that transform their lives forever.

A ghost/love story about a love that is stronger than death itself. Obon: Day of the dead (Reunion) takes place in a town called ‘Miracle’s habor’. Connie is befriended by a Lolita-fashion obsessed, cosplay loving black girl named Emma Davis, who can feel the presents of ghost and can see Adam. Emma becomes Connie’s best friend.

A story about loss and love, Obon: Day of the dead (Reunion) is a story that is sure to make you cry from beginning to end.

I hope to finish the novel after I finish up on my other projects.

A blessing and a curse

Published March 20, 2009 by ladyserenity92

My blog is both a blessing and a curse. The blessing is that I have so many fans that view my site very often; the curse on the other side of the cube is that fans who view my blog shun my other post and just look at the others instead. As a blogist, I understand that people love my work and I often post long messages on my blog. I was raised to speak my mind about what to say and how to express it.

I’ll let it go this time, since my fans love Boys Before Flowers. I wonder what the next show will be. I hope all you flower people love my weblog. Take care and stay gold!
